FA Cup final: Manchester City and Wigan fans won't be stranded after coach firm offers way home

Manchester City and Wigan fans were furious after it was confirmed the final would kick off at 5.15pm leaving them to face a race across London for the journey home

A coach firm has stepped in to offer football fans a way home after next month’s FA Cup final.
Thousands of Manchester City and Wigan fans were left furious after it was confirmed this week the showpiece final would kick off at 5.15pm on May 11.

With the last train from London Euston to Manchester at 9pm and 8.31pm for Wigan, most fans would face a race back across London for the journey home.
Extra time and penalties would make a return by train all but impossible.

Now National Express has announced it will run £34 return services to Wembley Stadium on the day - even allowing fans to celebrate for an hour after the game, even if extra time and penalties are required.
Fans catching the train had been advised to leave the game early or stay overnight in London.
